Incisional ptosis correction / Non-incisional ptosis correction
Ptosis, or “droopy eyelids” is a condition caused by the relative weakness of the levator muscles of the upper eyelid, making the eyes look
tired, inattentive, and dull. Correction of “droopy eyelids” requires meticulous surgical dexterity and technical skill, as well as an aesthetic
eye. The muscles of the upper eyelids responsible for lifting the eyelid are shortened or tightened with precision. Conventionally, ptosis
correction has been performed through the anterior approach or through the upper eyelid crease, however, innovations in surgical
technique has allowed us to achieve the same results with the minimally invasive non-incisional approach.
Surgical procedure
-
Before surgery
Preoperative consultation
-
Design
Surgical design and slit
incisions are made along the
eyelid crease, or proposed
eyelid crease
-
Suture
A surgical suture is passed
through the eyelid creating
a double fold, if desired.
Through the slit incision,
another suture is passed
through the eyelid to shorten
the levator muscles for an
eye widening effect.
-
After
Approximately 1 week later,
the eyes are widened and
a definitive double fold is
seen, if desired.
